BREAKING NEWS **** BREAKING NEWS
On our local six o'clock news, they had a bit about a local Pantomime (Panto) that was going to be acted out by children. It is supposed to be called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. However, when they got their printed script back, the Director found out she was no longer allowed to call her local Panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, because it was not politically correct to use the word "Dwarf(s)." The title of the Panto will have to be either Snow White and the Seven Gnomes, or Snow White and the Seven Guardians of the Forest.
One of the seven Guardians of the Forest-aka-Gnomes can no longer be called Bashful. He will henceforth be called Basher, as in Basher the Boxer Guardian of the Forest-aka-Gnome.
Trust me folks, I am not making this up. No way, no how.

We know. It was all over the current bun. Meanwhile in the States the news is that women are increasingly prone to bashing their pregnant neighbours over the heads and dissecting them to get their unborn foetuses. No im not making that up either.
Im interested to know why (last Xmas) some american blogs frankly viewed the move to wipe Christmas out of the UK seasonal greeting with a shrug of the shoulders. The greeting in the US has been terribly PC for a number of years. 'Happy Holidays' to me is just as bad as wiping out the dwarves! :) It was justified by some blogs as the extended holiday period between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Are you really on holiday that long? Why cant you say Happy Christmas for a christian celebration on Dec 25 that is specifically set around the birth of Christ? Why shouldnt those immigrants who arrived in the US last century be asked to acknowledge the christian celebration in the country. Specially since there are a bunch of dopeys out there ready to pounce on it over here. Im also keen to know if the Sept 11 families have beaten back the pc lot over the memorial. Im just not so sure the pc brigade is so uniquely ensconced in the UK. And please dont take it that I am baiting my american friends but the pc brigade does seem to have travelled a bit and maybe ive just picked up the last few entries in this blog out of context!
Whoa, Alison, I'm not sure where you are coming from. I hope I am saying the right thing by agreeing with you that the pc crowd is firmly enchonced in the US, as well as in the UK.
Hmm, bit long i agree. Its late! Was just interested to hear take on Happy Holidays and how US really arrived at it...cant seem to get a straight answer as most americans are attached to it..
ah, reminds me of the mancunian bird who was told off by the police for describing the hit and run motorist as "fat". such PC nonsense suitsingapore's easily offended horizontally- and vertically challenged types. but it's ok for em to offend those who are thin [why you so skinny one? snigger] or tall [whoa you must be eating bean sprouts rite?].
My take on it is that it SUCKS! I am extremely irritated by the whole 'winter holiday', 'spring holiday' crap. It's Christmas vacation and Easter vacation damnit!!
I find it especially annoying that a New Jersey school district has decided to give days off for ISLAMIC holidays - and a city in Michigan is blaring call to muslim prayers over loudspeakers 5 times a day. But we can't have a f#$king Christmas vacation - or even say that word - or sing Christmas songs at the Christma--- I mean WINTER PAGEANT or a teacher is not allowed to wear a small cross pendant without being fired!
It happened - I Swear to God it happened.
Whatever happened to freedom of religion? It's not freedom FROM religion - it's freedom OF religion.
And this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard about the Snow White thing. Nothing is sacred to these people....nothing!!!
This is the kind of stuff you CAN'T make up - it's too strange.
Sorry for the rant. I'm tired and going to bed now.
Alison, please don't lump us all into the same mold. There are many, many (Amerian) people who don't like the Winter Holiday or Happy Holiday type of thing. I'm going to say to you what my Krip says to me, "What's this you guys type of thing..." when I am talking about Brits. And BTW, more and more Brits are writing American's with a small a; why is that?
Ah, b, but tall and oh so suave (skinny) is in...right? Heh.
Monicar, Christianity and Judaism is out, Islam is in ~ get with it!! (sarcasm off).
it is Alice but only to those who are obsessed or "aspire" to be by going to those "slimming" centres. those who can't afford to or don't have the time, they find pleasure by making themselves more bitter by passing sarcy remarks in your - or mine in this case - face.
They're just jealous.
Ditto my comment on Krip's blog.
"And BTW, more and more Brits are writing American's with a small a; why is that?"
I hadn't noticed that Alicenot until you mentioned it.
WHY Alison? Hmmmmmmm? WHY?
I know that I deliberately put a lower case letter in where an uppercase should be as a sign of disrespect. Example: democrat - yet I will capitalize Republican. I do that on purpose just to be mean.
Monicar, it will be interesting to see how many people do so, not capitalizing the a in Americans. I'm hoping that sometimes it's because someone is in a hurry to write it, but how long does it take to hold down the cap key.
