"Charlie, does this dress make me look fat?"

Well, Bonny Prince Charlie and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall have finally arrived on the other side of the pond.

They arrive in Washington today loaded down with a wardrobe of 50 dresses (for her) and double-breasted tweeds, ties and tux (for him); 20 servants; makeup artists; and an entourage of 50 members of the British press at an estimated cost of close to a half-million dollars.

Now the royals showing us how royal royals can be with their servants, make-up artists, and the press isn't what impresses me because many from the actors' guild and songsters travel everywhere with their entourage of servants, nannies, make-up artists, and the paparazzi ~ so, no, that's not what is impressing me. However, the Duchess bringing fifty dresses, that's 50 DRESSES ~ that does impress me enormously.

I'm trying to picture Camilla, THE Duchess of Cornwall standing and peering into the closet and muttering, "Oh damn! CHARLIE!!! I have nothing to wear."

Oddly enough I'd rather my taxes go into paying for the Duchess' dresses than go to the poor...

Funny how Camillas dresses spark controversy when Diana took far more and spent far more but noone questioned it. How the press despises the middle aged! (Id rather my taxes went on making her feel confident in the limelight than the creation of the next muslim cultural centre any day.) Yep. Good luck to her.

Well, I can agree with you both Poosh and Alison. I just got tickled over the number of dresses that the Duchess brought over and imagining her complaining that she didn't have anything to wear.

oh and the self-appointed Noo Yawk fashion types deride her style - they'd expected her to be another attention-seeking Diana, but to their disapointment Camilla doesn't dress to their expectation. of a Duchess. fashion writers - ptui.

lol - great so you prefer to have your money go towards those who don't need it rather than help those who do. I suppose you call yourselves Christian as well.

Time to scrap the monarchy

Of course - I forget - there is no one is this world who needs help. There are no people who are starving or have no decent drinking water.

As long as we pay for a rich individual to have 50 dresses for a 8 day trip - everything is okay.

Frankly if I could stop Mr Blair taking my tax money and using it to fund Africa's noble 'democracies', I would. Funny, we dont get a say in that either.
